To Tattoo or To Not Tattoo

For the first post to this blog I decided to talk about a topic that I will be experience tomorrow and have experienced in the past. That is the topic of Tattoos. Now there is a lot of opinions out there concerning tattoo's but I wanted to elaborate more on the idea around women and tattoo's. Let me tell you my story as to why I bring this up.

Today I decided to go to the local tattoo parlor to schedule an appointment for my second tattoo. When I walked into the shop I immediately noticed that I was the only girl in the room. To much of my surprise while I was waiting to speak with a artist I was glancing at the magazines in the waiting room. Of course they are all Maxim magazines. So as I am flipping through them I notice that none of the models in the magazines have tattoo's. I begin to admire the models beauty and realize that I begin to ask myself "Does a tattoo make a female less attractive?" I contemplate this while I am waiting and second guess my want to have another tattoo. Now keep in mind that the one that I currently have is on the back of my neck. Many people do not even know that I actually have one. I can easily hide it in an circumstance where it is not appropriate. Anyways, I decide that it is still something I want to do and proceed to speak with the artist. I contemplated getting two tattoo's, one on each side of my lower back or hip area. As I continued to analyse the placement of my tattoo's I came across instances in which they would be seen, either while in a swimming suit, bending over to pick something up and wearing a short shirt and of course while I was naked ;). I realized that I was not comfortable with this and decided against them but went with another design right below the tattoo that I currently have.

Now I know that each person has a different opinion then I do and would get a tattoo there but for me it made me feel uncomfortable. I referenced back to the models in Maxim and thought to myself "What if I wanted to be a model? Would I be as accepted with my tattoo's as those women who had kept their skin pure? Maybe I could model for Low Rider magazine with my tat's?" Very obscure thoughts, I know but, maybe these are the things that we as women should think about when we decide on something that is so permanent.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that tattoo's make women more or less attractive?
